Inside the 90s Fashion Queen’s Closet
In Cher we trust
Cher, from Clueless, is undoubtedly the queen of 90s fashion. Yes, Cher is a fictional character, yes, it’s nearly been 25 since the release of this cult-favorite film, and yes, we’re still obsessed with the fashion.?
If you’ve lived under a rock until this very moment and haven’t seen Clueless, the movie’s protagonist, rich Beverly Hills teen, and self-proclaimed matchmaker, Cher Horowitz (Alicia Silverstone), sets up her two teachers to get better grades and uses her popularity to make over the new girl Tai (Brittany Murphy) with her BFF Dione (Stacey Dash), while they find Tai her perfect boyfriend. Cher goes through the trials and tribulations of an average teen while trying to find someone for herself - only to find that’s he’s been right in front of her all along.?
The looks in this movie have transcended fleeting trends, and have claimed space in our closets, hearts, and they remind us - you really can’t have enough plaid!?
While I think Ala?a and Calvin Klein dresses are a little outside most of our budgets, these outfits are reminiscent of the 90s fashion icon’s style and can seamlessly integrate right into your wardrobe, without breaking the bank.?
Kicking things off with a bang- who can forget the truly iconic yellow plaid number? Only the ensembly-challenged, of course:?
More plaid, yes, please. Pair this red, a-line skirt with a striped men’s blouse and a sleeveless red sweater:
We call this goth Cher - “it’s not a phase!”
“Mel: What the hell is that?
Cher: A dress!
Mel: Says who?
Cher: Calvin Klein!”?
While this is not Calvin Klein, you will feel like you’re in Calvin Klein when you put this dress on.
