Keep It In Check: The Secret To Healthy Skin

It’s fair to say our skin goes through a lot, and we can often forget to give it the attention it truly needs and deserves. I have tried desperately over the years to find the secret to healthy skin – and to my surprise, it didn’t include expensive facial treatments or bizarre fads. To help you achieve that soft, youthful glow, I’ve put together a list of the secret ways to rejuvenate your skin and keep it in tip-top shape!

Drink Orange Juice

Contrary to popular belief, water isn’t the only thing you should be drinking to drastically improve your skin’s health. Drinking orange juice frequently can do wonders for your skin and overall health in general! Oranges are high in vitamin C and packed with collagen, making your skin firmer and more youthful looking. I drank a lot of orange juice whilst at university (like, a lot), and I must admit, my skin was the only thing that was thriving in my life. If you aren’t a huge fan of orange juice (can’t relate), then check out Glow Daily Vitamin C Gel Cream: Infused with Vitamin C, it’ll leave your skin looking healthier and radiant.

Exfoliate

Exfoliating is the secret miracle worker when it comes to skincare. Exfoliating your body and face is super important to get rid of any toxins, dead skin cells and dry patches on your skin. Dead skin cells can seriously block up your pores and prevent products from penetrating your skin, which means even though you’re using all the right skincare products, without exfoliating away the rubbish from your pores, they simply won’t work!

I recommend exfoliating your body at least every two days, and exfoliating your face once a week. I use ESPA Skin Brush when in the shower to exfoliate my body. I find it works best if applied in circular motions as it keeps ingrown hairs in check and leaves me with glowing soft skin!

Prick it

They may look a little scary, but derma rollers will become the next best thing in your skincare routine. The Ecooking Derma Roller is amazing at keeping your skin looking younger for longer. With little to no pain, the little needles prick your skin helping your skincare products burrow deeper into your skin’s layers, which makes them more effective! Also, the tiny little holes created by the roller can stimulate collagen production in your skin, making the surface healthier and brighter.

Sleep

I am such a hypocrite when it comes to this, but sleep is the miracle worker when it comes to skincare. Your skin repairs and rejuvenates itself at night, so the more you rest your eyes, the better your skin will be. I recommend at least 6-8 hours of sleep every night. Although, if you need a little help in shutting off your brain and snuggling down to sleep, Amly Beauty Sleep Mist can help! Just spritz this on your face and around your sleeping area and you’re good to go.

Join The Retinol Revolution

You may have noticed a lot of retinol products popping up in the shops recently, and for good reason. Retinol can seriously transform your skin for the better. Not only can it unclog your pores, clear up acne and sort out uneven skin tones, but it can also boost collagen production and reduce fine lines! I use The Chemistry Brand Retin-oil on my body to keep my skin looking and feeling healthy.

Eat tomatoes

Yes, you read that right. Tomatoes are high in lycopene, which is an amazing antioxidant that can fight old age and all the signs that come with it. Tomatoes are pretty inexpensive and, in my opinion, taste great too! I can eat cherry tomatoes on the daily straight out the fridge like they’re strawberries (don’t judge me). Not only are they great for snacking, but they hydrate and feed my skin in the best possible way. If you want your skin firmer and brighter, but aren’t a fan of eating tomatoes, try out Yes To Tomatoes Daily Clarifying Cleanser to keep your complexion clear.

If you want your skin to be healthy, it’s important to be persistent and consent with your regimes. Don’t skip out on the body care days, as your skin could suffer for it!
