Flirty and Fluttery: How To Make Your Eyelashes Grow

Everybody wants those super long fluttery eyelashes, especially now that summer is here and we want as little makeup as possible (heat and makeup are a big no). Those of you who can commit to falsies every day, I salute you and your dedication, but for people like me, it’s just not doable. To make sure my naturally blonde (stumpy) eyelashes look good without any mascara, I scouted around for the best ways to make them grow and pop. From beauty experts to friend recommendations, there’s something here for everyone!

Coconut oil

Coconut oil isn’t just for your pantry, it’s pretty essential for your skin too! If you want to grow your lashes, then a little bit of coconut oil can do just that! Thanks to the fatty acids and nourishing properties, coconut oil can stimulate growth in your lashes and prevent hair fallout. Just apply it with your fingers before you go to bed and you’ll wake up with super healthy and longer looking eyelashes! Just a quick note (speaking from experience) make sure you use organic raw coconut oil that's free of adjectives and added sugar as you don’t want your eyes developing rheum (crusty eyes). I use KIKI Health Organic Raw Virgin Coconut Oil for all my skin care needs, and honestly, I wouldn’t use any other.

Eyelash growth serum

If you want a product specifically designed for the task at hand, then you may want to check out this eyelash serum. RapidLash Eyelash Enhancing Serum has been dubbed the holy grail of lash growth by beauty editors across the globe and for good reason. After just two weeks you will be able to see a noticeable difference in the length of your lashes. Just remember if you want to see some serious results be patient and consistent in applying the serum!

Green Tea

Honestly, I didn’t know green tea could help your lashes grow until someone recommended it to me. Green tea is enriched in all those amazing antioxidants and vitamins that are great for growth stimulation. All you have to do is make a strong cup of green tea, allow it to cool (please don’t use boiling tea!), and apply to your lashes using a cotton bud at least twice a day. Not only will it help your lashes grow, but it’ll also make them stronger!

This is a trick my friend told me when I was just 14, and honestly, I am still a huge believer in using Vaseline to grow my lashes. Petroleum jelly has some amazing healing and soothing properties, which is great for encouraging your lashes to grow. I use my fingers to apply the Vaseline just before I go to bed; I even put a little under my eyes to moisturize my skin and minimize the appearance of dark circles.

Aloe Vera

It’s a pretty known fact that Aloe Vera is just overall amazing at soothing everything. From your hair, nails, sunburn, and skin, it’s a pretty essential plant to have in your home. So it’s not surprising that it’s being used to stimulate eyelash growth. Just apply the juice from a fresh Aloe Vera plant or use this super handy Aloe soothing gel and apply it to your lashes overnight and wash it off in the morning. You’ll be surprised at how amazing and longer looking your eyelashes will appear in the morning!

Conditioning Mascara Primer

You may not know this, but a lot of mascaras can dry out your natural lashes, which is why your lashes may be falling out. I use Barry M Cosmetics Lash Saver Eyelash Primer just before putting on my mascara. The gentle formula acts as a nourishing barrier between my eyelashes and mascara, giving me fuller and longer lashes whilst also boosting the hairs’ resilience and stimulating lash growth.

Cleansing Water

Cleansing is super important if you want your eyelashes to grow. Not only does it remove any excess makeup left behind on your lashes, but it also gently simulates and softens your lashes. I use Garnier Skin Micellar Cleansing Water which is amazing at removing my makeup thoroughly, even waterproof mascara! To help your eyelashes grow, it’s important to be gentle and patient. I know it may seem obvious, but don’t pick at them - which includes flaking off your mascara after a long day at work.
